Professor Leapetswe Malete of Michigan State University (MSU) recently paid a courtesy call on the Provost of the College of Education, University of Ghana, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, as part of his ongoing collaboration with the Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies.
The visit formed part of Professor Malete’s ongoing academic engagement with the Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies, aimed at strengthening international collaboration in research and advancing youth development through sport.
During the meeting, Professor Annabella Osei-Tutu, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies, outlined the rationale behind the collaboration. She noted that the collaboration with MSU aligns with the Department’s efforts to expand its global footprint and foster impactful research on youth development through sport. “We are excited about the prospects this collaboration brings, especially in building capacity and exploring new areas of research,” she remarked.
The Provost, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe warmly welcomed Professor Malete to the College. He expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Michigan State University, describing it as timely and promising. He commended the Department for its initiative and commitment to international engagement, urging them to maintain their momentum. “Continue to strive for greater heights,” he encouraged, “and take full advantage of opportunities that elevate the Department’s profile.”
Professor Malete, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and shared his excitement about the collaborative work ahead. “I’m truly delighted to be here and to engage with colleagues at the University of Ghana,” he said. “I look forward to the work we’ll do together, and I hope to contribute meaningfully to the Department’s vision during my time here.”
The Provost also extended his best wishes to Professor Malete, encouraging him to enjoy his stay in Ghana and make the most of his time with the College.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, College Registrar and faculty members from the Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies, including Dr. Clement Adamba, Dr. Vida Korleki Nyawornota and Dr. Doris Akosua Tay.
