Professor Mark Rumanelli from the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein, Austria, has paid a courtesy call on the Provost of the College of Education, University of Ghana, as part of a working visit under the Erasmus+ exchange programme.
The visit, hosted by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Studies, at the School of Education and Leadership, is the latest in a growing partnership between the two universities, underscoring their shared commitment to international academic exchange, research collaboration and cultural dialogue.
Introducing the visiting Professor, Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Senior Lecturer and Programme Coordinator, traced the roots of the collaboration to student visits from Austria nearly seven years ago. “Initially, it was a one-way exchange,” he noted. “We aimed to make the partnership more reciprocal, so we applied to Erasmus+ for faculty mobility. Last year, we expanded the application to include students, and fortunately, it was approved.”
Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, Provost of the College of Education, warmly welcomed Professor Rumanelli and commended the Department for its efforts in advancing the collaboration. He reaffirmed the College’s strong commitment to the initiative, noting that it aligns closely with Priority 4 of the University’s 2024–2029 Strategic Plan, which focuses on engagement and partnerships.
Expressing his gratitude, Professor Rumanelli spoke appreciatively of the hospitality extended to him and the shared vision of both universities. “This partnership has been built on a solid foundation and I’m truly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead,” he remarked.
As the visit drew to a close, Professor Codjoe commended the Department for curating a well-structured programme for Professor Rumanelli’s stay and extended his best wishes for a fruitful engagement. He further assured Professor Rumanelli of the College’s continued support throughout the duration of his visit.
